Started as a small timber processing business in 1949, Paharpur today provides cooling towers and air cooled heat exchangers to such diverse industries as power generation, fertilizers, petrochemicals, petroleum refining, chemical processing, sugar, cement, steel, air conditioning and refrigeration. The company's factories are located in Kolkata, Kandla (Gujarat) and Sahibabad (near Delhi), and it employs over 2,500 committed persons. Spanning an experience of more than 4 decades in process cooling, Paharpur Cooling Towers continues to cool more than 400 billion litres of water per day if worked together.

Paharpur's business collaborations include joint ventures with KSB Pumps Limited, Pune (An Indo-German joint venture for manufacturing pumps) and KRUPP Industries India Limited (for manufacturing sugar and cement machinery).
