Gokul was born in 24 Parganas, North Kolkata and graduated from Santi Niketan. He entered the teaching profession and works in Kolkata. He has also participated in plenty of group shows and is currently planning his solo exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts Kolkata. Gokul Sarkar is recognized by his series of paintings on children.
