Rabindra Nath Tagore

PROFILE

Tagore studied under Olinto Gilhardi and Charles Palmer and learnt the art of Japanese brushwork under Yokoyama Taikan. He established the Indian School of Oriental Art in 1907 and founded the Bengal School of Art, which pioneered the Bengal Revivalist Movement. In addition to exhibitions in India, his paintings were exhibited all over the world, including places such as France, Belgium, The Netherlands, England, the USA and Switzerland.
