The Photo Art exhibition - " People and Places " showcases 57 works of art, which depicts the poverty and harsh living conditions contrasted by the unfailingly gracious hospitality of the Indian villagers. Their optimism and dignity in the face of enormous challenges has made a lasting impression on the artist, which is reflected in many of his photos on exhibit. His favorite photograph, "Nangaladhi Madonna" captures all these emotions. Looking into the mother’s eyes one sees the enormous hardship this still young lady has faced; yet her bearing is upright and her gaze steady. The child, looking toward the light, shows more optimism, but even at this young age the difficulty of life in a remote village is evident. The room is devoid of possessions, save a small ball, yet this family never hesitated in offering tea to the strange visitors who appeared on their doorstep without notice.
While photographing the people of India gives Mr.Bartlett greatest satisfaction however the breathtaking scenery and architecture of India were too beautiful for him to ignore. The creativity in each photograph reflects the beauty of nature and leaves a lasting impression on the soul of the viewers.
