Working in association with BRAC, Madhu has used this embroidery which is done with more than 60 to 70 different types of stitches to give the fabric the natural crinkled effect. On this collection Madhu has worked with Maheen Khan, her Bangladeshi counterpart who helped her with the sourcing of the fabrics and finalising the embroidery techniques wherein traditional motifs like the paisleys and the geometrics have been intricately woven into Jamdani weaves.
Indeed, it was a lovely
showing of a well achieved collection after months of toiling with the Bangladeshi
craftsmen. The show was held in the beautifully lit up and embellished
garden of Madhu Jain’s brother Kamal Meattle, with a constructed stairway
rising from the garden to the house-top serving as the ramp. The models,
appeared like angels descending from the heavens above, walked around the
house and disappeared at the back to reappear on the roof-top all over again |
