THE TIMES OF INDIA

THURSDAY APRIL 23, 1998

The American ambassador, H E Richard Celeste’s residence, Roosevelt House, is a dream at any time.  But when it is touched by the wand of a magical evening, it gets converted to almost fairyland.  The other night, at a party to launch international real estate company, LaSalle Partners, fairy lights were strung in trees, candles waxed eloquent all over the lawns, even as live flames vied for attention with the statuesque ice carvings, and strategically placed tortoise coils kept winged monsters away.

The LaSalle CEO David Fowler alternated between greeting guests and swinging elegant wife Anaiga on the dance floor under a starry sky, as did the ambassador with wife Jacqueline Lundquist.

Most of the other guests however preferred to keep to their tables, enjoying the pleasant ambience and the food.  One exception was Bharat Sikka, who bravely stuck to the dance floor with his partner, even when it was deserted.  A surprise guest amongst the largely corporate crowd, was hairdresser Sylvie.

The cuisine was varied, including a live Mongolian barbecue site, a live pasta station and a vegetarian station.  Amongst the guests was Sikandar Bakht, minister of industry, K P Singh, chairman DLF centre,
K K Modi, president FICCI, Dr B K Modi and Kamal Meattle of Paharpur Business Centre.
