The report states that people working at Paharpur Business Centre have 10-12% less lung Impairment because of its Indoor Air Quality System has cleaner air than most of the buildings in Delhi, which includes some of the government buildings located in the central part of the city.

GreenSpaces™ - an IT / ITES SEZ gets nod from APP as a Flagship Project

Policy and Implementation Committee (PIC) of Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (APP) in its meeting held at Vancouver, Canada has unanimously approved GreenSpaces™ - an IT/ITES Special Economic Zone near South Delhi as a Flagship Project of the Buildings and Appliances Task Force (BATF).

The nomination as a Flagship Project was by Government of India.

The Asia -Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (APP) is an international non treaty Government to Government Agreement among seven countries -Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and the United States of America, working towards energy security, air pollution reduction and climate change to promote sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction. The Partnership focuses on expanding investment and trade in cleaner energy technologies, goods and services in key market sectors.

Buildings and Appliances Task Force (BATF) is one of the eight public - private sector task forces of the Partnership to promote best practices and demonstrate technologies and building design principles which can increase energy efficiency. The portfolio includes the full range of actions intended by the Partnership - technology research and development, pilot projects, demonstration and deployment activities, skills enhancement and best practice dissemination.

GreenSpacesGreenSpaces™ is a notified IT/ITES Special Economic Zone in Faridabad, located six kilometers from South Delhi border on the National Highway 2 to Agra, India. The main objective of the GreenSpaces™ Project is to deliver the world's most energy efficient commercial building measured by achieving the highest number of points, world wide, in USGBC LEED 3.0 certification.

It will have a built-up area of 1.75 million ft and it will be a USGBC LEED Super Platinum building, besides being TERI Griha certified and a CDM Project.

Buildings account for about 40% of total global energy usage. By demonstrating the reduction in the energy used at GreenSpaces™ without compromising on international standards, in a commercial building of a reasonable size covering 1.75 million ft of Built Up Area, and generating 1 MW of PV power and using as much as feasible, power from renewable sources, collective carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced, reducing in turn, impact on global warming and thus helping the environment.

GreenSpaces™ experience will be meaningful for society as it will help demonstrate that it is economically possible to reduce the energy use in buildings, from 40% to 10% through technology, lifestyle changes & design, even in an underdeveloped country. It will also prove that 'Green is Green' and hence sustainable and this model can be replicated in other geographiesGreenSpaces

It will minimize carbon footprints at work and is being built to be one the healthiest & most fun working environment in any commercial building in India. It will be ready for occupation in 2011 as a "Plug & Play" 5 star facility. Leasing, by invitation, will commence in first quarter 2009.

Given that a 3.7 KM Flyover is being built at Badarpur at a short distance from Jasola, the GreenSpaces™ site will become an extension of Jasola, South Delhi. A METRO stop is coming up right in front of the site and this will reduce access time to the site.

GreenSpaces™ has a very eminent Hon. Advisory Board of 13 members and has a large number of Fortune 500 firms as its Technology Partners including firms such as General Electric, Carrier, Otis, IBM, ITT and others.

The project -GreenSpaces™ will have similar "Plug & Play" theme but with a difference of achieving the world's highest rating for Green Buildings measured on USGBC LEED Rating System Version 3.0.
